Drawing 101 - Week 1

Oh what wonderful artists we have in our class!  We covered three lessons and learned about several aspects of sketching that can make our drawings look real.  I encouraged each of them to draw something using these principles and bring it to class next week for show 'n tell (not required, but supper neat if they take on the challenge)

Lesson 1 "Spheres"
1-object
2-light source
3-shading
4-cast shadow

Lesson 2 "Overlapping Spheres"
1-size
2-placement
3-overlapping
4-nook and cranny shadows

Lesson 3 "Advanced Spheres"
1-multiplying all of the lessons learned above

"Every artist was first an amateur" - Ralph Waldo Emerson

We discussed that each of us are potential artists, and that rather than compare our drawing to someone else, we would compare it to ourselves and watch how much we improve!  Our neighbor has probably just had more practice.  ; )
