The Dyches Family

Hi everybody!  We are the Dyches family!  We (Aaron and Kenna) have six children (ages 10, 9, 7, 4, 3, and 1) which keeps life busy and always interesting.

Karina's our oldest.  She's 10 years old and will be 11 years old in February.  This girl can do anything she sets her mind to, and she loves to create.  She has started writing many stories.  She embroiders, knits (with the loom), and designs on adobe photoshop.  She also likes to ice skate, and took lessons in figure skating until eight months ago, when she decided she wanted to spend her time elsewhere.  This is all in spite of the fact that Karina has cerebral palsy and uses her knees or a walker to get around.  It might take some effort to understand Karina's speech, but she is patient, and people tell me it gets easier the more time they spend with Karina.  She is very, very excited to be a part of ATLAS Academy.

Trevor just turned 9 on December 31st!  (Now that's a way to ring in the new year!)  Trevor loves games, and had lots of fun playing games until midnight on New Year's Eve.  He also spends a LOT of time reading books.  Some of his most favorites are the Narnia books and J.R.R. Tolkien's Hobbit and Lord of the Rings.  He enjoys acting out great epic struggles between good and evil, and is often found wearing his chain mail in preparation for the next battle.  Usually, he has all of his younger siblings involved in the scenes he creates.

Enoch (7), Curtis (5 in January), Holly (3) and Joseph (18 months) won't be coming to ATLAS this semester.  They'll join us in the Fall.  Enoch loves art and building things, Curtis loves to listen to all kinds of music, Holly loves to talk, and Joseph thinks he's 5 years old.

Our children are the joy of our life.

Aaron works in the aviation department at Utah State University, and enjoys flight instruction and teaching there.   He loves the outdoors and his family.

As for me, I (Kenna) love spending my time with my children.  I love to read and study, and I am usually reading 3 books at a time.  I enjoy gardening and am actually trying a winter garden this year in a cold frame (inspired by Eliot Coleman's Year Round Harvest).... I've learned a lot and will change a few things next year.  And I am really, really trying to organize my home so that it can stay organized with the least amount of effort.  It's a work in progress.

We are looking forward to being involved in ATLAS Academy with all of you wonderful people.
